What people say about (Lake Spivey Golf Club)

Wesley

I’m not one to write reviews but I feel like I have to. Please don’t waste your money, 55 is outrageous for the conditions on this course. Tee boxes were hard as a rock and half were bare. Yet somehow the greens were worse. It looks like the grass hasn’t been cut in weeks, every putt was left short unless you actually smack the ball. I booked thinking the reviews were overreacting, they weren’t. Friendly staff and nice course layout but that’s where it ends.

I don’t write reviews but I can’t help but warm others about Spivey. If I could give this zero stars I would. Let’s start at the beginning. Club house id completely bare. I’m talking a couple hats, 2 sleeves of balls and that’s it. Carts sounds like they are falling apart. We got a small bucket of range balls and headed to what they call a range. You get up there and it’s find a spot among the overgrown grass or bare spots. Tee boxes are literally hard as concrete and most look like a barren wasteland. I’ll be generous and say half the greens are utter trash. Today the greens (what grass is there) was so shaggy they couldn’t have been cut within the last 4 days.I’m talking having to hit a 40ft putt from 10ft away and still probably leave it short. I’ve played fairways faster and more true than these greens. Littered with weeds!! Cups were overgrown and appear to be in the same pin location for a couple weeks…..The rough was inconsistent to say the least. Miss the fairway by 2 feet you may never find your ball due to Bermuda being 10-12” tall. If you are lucky you catch a piece of rough that is weeds and not grass. There is no fringe around the greens either. Every single green has either 6” of Bermuda or crabgrass that is 4-6” deep. Absolute INSANITY. There is in no world where this course is work more than $15. To be completely honest I don’t think I would play this place again if it were free. This place use to be so nice. One of the premier courses in metro Atlanta. Those days are gone and tbh I don’t think it is worth saving. People there are nice but that is all they have to offer.

It has been a while since I have golfed here. If three stars dictates an average course, then this would currently be a 2. The tee boxes were in horrible shape and small. The greens were overall the worst I have seen this year at any course. They easily will add strokes to your score. It will be longer before I go back again.
