Advertised on golf now for non-member play day. Got 4 tee times. When we got there the course was closed. Very poor management. would have given a 0 if I could. Management approached me and admitted a scheduling error. For some reason they could not get in touch to cancel the tee time. Scheduled another tee time for our group. Upgraded to 4 stars for their effort.
The good: - Staff was pleasant and helpful - The course layout is interesting and fair with a few extra tough holes thrown in - Price was reasonable The bad: - The driving range was mats only and the mats are overdue for replacement, ditto for the range balls - The greens are bent grass and suffering mightily in the summer heat/humidity. They rolled better than they looked but the club needs to replace them with Champion Bermuda, IMO. Many courses in the area have had to do that. The worst: - Nearly a 5.5 hour round. Plenty of people on the course, some walking, and we never saw a marshall. Hard to find a rhythm when you're waiting on every shot. Summary If not for the extreme pace of play issue and poor greens this would be a winner.
The staff was great. The course was fun and walkable. It is permanently closed as it has been sold to Brand Properties for apartment development. Sad that Gwinnett County doesn't value green space in this part of town. Alas, I will miss it.
