I really enjoy this course. I’ve played here a handful of times, and every round has been both challenging and fun. The layout is great, the conditions are solid, and the bartenders have always been friendly and welcoming—these are the reasons I gave 3 stars. Unfortunately, the experience with the starter during my most recent visit left a lot to be desired. I had booked an 8:39am tee time for a foursome. My group and I arrived about 15 minutes early and began unloading our clubs when the starter approached us and told us we needed to tee off early. I politely explained that our fourth was arriving shortly and we’d tee off at our scheduled time. He insisted that’s not how it works and that our fourth could meet us on the course and miss a hole that was paid for. I told him we’d wait and stick to our booked time. Rather than respecting that, he continued to press the issue in a way that felt unnecessarily aggressive. It created an uncomfortable and frankly disrespectful tone to start the day. When I mentioned this to the pro shop staff, it was mostly brushed off with a casual “oh, sorry.” I believe the head pro was present, but he didn’t say a word. As we headed to the tee we had to wait for the group ahead of us to finish anyway and even the front 9 was a little slow, expected for a Sunday morning. As someone who pays to play and truly enjoys the course, I’d hope the staff—especially the starter—could approach guests with more professionalism and courtesy. Golf is meant to be enjoyable, not confrontational. I’ll likely return for the course itself, but I’d hope to see a shift in how golfers are treated at check-in.
