What people say about (Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course)

Great local golf course with competitive prices. It took me and my friends about an hour and a half to complete all nine holes. It wasn’t very busy which was nice, we went on a Monday morning while it was raining. It was still a fun experience. I recommend checking it out

Course is in Ok but not great condition - tee boxes were consistently dirt and gravel in spots. We've had a good amount of rain, so i think they're just not maintaining well. Some of the cart paths are just gravel - overall not an aesthetically pleasing golf course. The greens are fairly nice. My biggest gripe is with the lack of starter and inability to form groups. We played on a sunday as a group of 4 and both in front of us and behind us were groups of 2 who were obviously outpacing us. A starter would not only ensure that tee times are spaced out properly, but would ensure that groups of 2 in the same time slots aren't teeing off separately which i'm pretty sure is whats happening here. Overall, just needs better administration. They're definitely not lacking for money, the Tee time without a cart was $47 which is neither cheap nor expensive. Tashua Knolls in trumbull is a much nicer course, with proper grouping and starting, for roughly the same price. Whitney Farms in Monroe is also better maintained and they have a starter as well. My advise - Fix your Tee boxes and hire Starters who actually oversee when groups tee off and ensures good pace of play. Groups should not feel rushed when they're well under the standard time of 15 minutes per hole - Twosomes in carts trying to blow through a round of 9 holes in 1.5 hours should not ruin other peoples outings.

Fairchild Wheeler is one of those rare public courses that checks all the boxes. The golf is solid—two full 18-hole layouts that offer a good mix of challenge and playability. Well-maintained (other than some of the tee boxes), and you can’t beat the price for what you get. The food at the clubhouse is surprisingly good, and the people—both staff and regulars—make the whole experience feel welcoming and laid-back. If you’re looking for good golf, good food, and good people without breaking the bank, Fairchild Wheeler is the spot.
