What people say about (Hawks Landing Country Club)

I recently hosted my son’s 1st birthday party of over 100 guests at Hawks Landing. Jeff & Paul were absolutely amazing to work with. I work with a lot of different venues all over Connecticut with my event planning business and this place is truly next level. The attention to detail and the way the entire staff works together to really give you everything you envision is hard to come by. Paul and I designed the entire event menu from scratch. Anything I asked for, he made happen! My biggest concern was that I didn’t want guests waiting too long for food but I also didn’t want a sit down meal. Paul suggested we do multiple food stations around the space so nobody was waiting. He also had his staff start with passed appetizers while everyone was mingling. It worked out PERFECTLY. My theme was “Jack’s 1st rodeo.” Paul even offered to request that his staff wear jeans and a flannel shirt to match my vibe. Every single member of the Hawks team had such a hand in perfecting the day. My guests are still raving about the food and experience more than a month later. They really made the day so special and I couldn’t be more grateful to Jeff, Paul and the entire Hawks team! ♥️

We recently held a Celebration of Life for our beloved daughter Jacqueline at Hawk's Landing and we are deeply grateful for the compassion, care and professionalism show to us during such a difficult time. From the very beginning, Andrea was not only accommodating but truly empathetic. She listened with an open heart, anticipated our needs and created a space that honored Jacqueline's memory with grace and dignity. Every detail, from the thoughtful setup to the gentle support throughout the day, reflecting her genuine commitment to helping our family navigate moments of profound loss. If you are looking for a venue that not only provides excellent service, but also truly cares, we wholeheartedly recommend Hawk's Landing. With Gratitude, The Barse Family

1 line review: Strange layout that could be fun if they maintained it. It seems the owners are sitting on this as a property investment waiting for the right times to turn it into a housing development. Played here in a scramble outing. It has been at least ten years since I last played here and I only live 15 minutes away. Fore reference, it is the dead of summer, we've had plenty of rain and plenty of sun. Conditions: The course conditions are pretty atrocious. Things that should not be issues are. No grass in tee boxes, especially tees that you hit irons from. When I say no grass, I mean they're just dirt. Fairways aren't bad comparatively, but are also super long and uneven. Rough and around the greens. This course just has whatever grass felt like growing. I think the staff went on Amazon and bought a bag of mystery seed, and whatever took, took. There are combos of native grass plus Bermuda grass like you're down in Florida. I believe the greens are Bermuda too, you get grain unlike most courses up here. Mixed into all the grass is random weeds and crab grass. You have no idea where your ball is going to end up and how it is going to play. In a 6" circle near the green you could be in thick native grass rough, or Bermuda, or crab grass, or a completely bare spot of dirt. Greens were soft, cut super long, and filled with pitch and spike marks. Nothing rolled true and were some of the slowest I've played all year. To top it off, I don't know if they've moved the pins in weeks as some of the holes were closer to different forms of quadrilaterals than circles. 16th hole had a temporary green that we didn't know about until we arrived to it. The bunkers were basically rough 2.0. Many of them did not have defined edges and had grass growing in the center of them. Layout: Hawks Landing has a seriously interesting layout. It is under 6000yds from the tips on the card, and even less in actuality. Many of those tips have been removed completely. Every par 5 is par 4 length. Many par 4's are reachable from the tee. And then there are a couple of jacked par 3's to make up some length. Overall it does require you to think about shot positioning. But it for sure was not designed by anyone with a background in course design. Many courses in CT are short, but they make sense compared to this place. Not a single par 5 did we have more than 160yds in on our second shots for example. Driving range: Go down the road to Chris Cotes before showing up. The range is short, and the mats are literally worn through to the ground underneath. Service/dining: The restaurant here I believe is leased from the course. The food was not great, especially for the price. The service was poor as drinks never came out and food was forgotten about. However, the atmosphere is really nice. Overall: There are a handful of other places you could better spend $60 on a round nearby that are a much better deal. Unless someone buys this place and spends a lot of money renovating it, I'd stay far away. This is a $20/18 holes after work kind of place.
