What people say about (Mohegan Sun Golf Club)

Jeff Seager

Extremely disappointed with my recent trip. As most other reviews point out, there is significant construction on the course to that was not disclosed prior to booking. Upon speaking up about it, I was told the $140 greens fee was at a discount. The folks at Mohegan should tour Turning Stone in NY to see what a golf course costing $140/round should look like. I wouldn’t consider playing that course again, even it’s best shape. Pace of play was extremely slow, 5.5 hours to play 18 on that course is egregious. No Marshall, no food at the turn, no chance I will be returning.

The leadership needs to be changed out at this course. Who's in charge? Whoever it is isn't worried about customer service. Overpriced. Was not worth the fee to play. At the turn all they had was tiny ham sandwiches. The course is in garbage shape on a few holes. Dirt and excavators in the fairway. Very disappointed. Will not be back.

On a whim drove down to check out the highly recommended course. The rate was $85 for 18 w/cart as advertised in the CT playbook. The staff were all very good, credit to them. Practice range was only about 150 yards but a nice perk. The designated chipping area was large but the grass on the green was much longer than the putting area and on the course. The front 9 needs some work. There were plenty of patchy areas. In fairness we have had extreme heat for about three weeks. The greens were disappointing especially on the front 9. So many ball marks and poorly repaired ball marks, a few cigarette butts and cigar burns. Bunkers had nice texture but they were poorly maintained. On the second hole my putt went almost entirely in and popped out. Upon closer inspection it looked like the lip of the cup was exposed. Same thing happened to my playing partner on another hole. We'd both never seen that happen before. Back 9 was a little better. #12 was closed! The course is pretty easy from the white tees. It has a lot of potential. In the end I was disappointed for the value.
