What people say about (Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course)

Tom Gibson

I've played Rancho at least a few times per year for over 20 years. It's been a roller coaster with ownership and management changes, and a near sale and bulldoze for condominiums. Over the 20 years, conditions ranged from awful to just sort of ok. The greens have always been pretty good. Today (March 21st) was the first day in 20 years where (I thought) the course truly is getting into good condition. The bunkers have been re-sanded. The fairways are much greener, even, and lush. The rough is still hit and miss, but that's alright. The tee boxes are in consistenly good shape. The course is way, way better than it's been in decades. And the management and maintenance crew seem to have turned the corner and be really fixing it up. Kudos! It's always been a fun track and perhaps now it'll be in good condition. Fingers crossed.

Please save your money. One of the worst course conditions I’ve seen and paid $100 + to play here. Every other hole was cart path only and pace of play was horrible. Definitely won’t be coming back here.

I'd give this experience less than 1 star really!. I scheduled a tee time to enjoy the day with my son on 3/16/25 for a full round at 3:57pm. Still plenty of time to complete 18 holes and enjoy the the daylight, right? I was so wrong!! According to my 18 Birdies App, it took 2hrs 12 min to play 9 holes. Poor management and under staffed, they don't offer a voucher either to come back to complete your round. I quit after 9 holes because the play was so bad! The ambassador on the course was overwhelmed and they had no electronic system to see the pace or where players are on the course. Plus, they mismatched groups, we had two carts and 1 walker in our group. In addition, we did grab a bite to eat at their little restaurant since we had an hour before our tee time. IMO, the food was just ok, $45-$50 for just 2 cheeseburgers, fries and sodas for my son and I. I really had high hopes for this course but I felt at the end of the day, I had wasted my money. The only positive thing at least was I enjoyed a day with my son on a course. Don't think we will be going back unless it's FREE!
