What people say about (Malibu Golf Club)

Judy Zhou

Came here over the weekend to do a wine tasting at the outside wine bar. The overall ambiance was nice. There was a party going on so most of the tables were taken. I highly recommend bringing a blanket to sit on if you don't end up with a table because there are lots and lots of ants in the grass. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The wine was good and it was very serene and scenic.

DO NOT GO HERE!! We were treated so incredibly rudely by the staff, it was outrageous and embarrassing. We purchased a Groupon and arrived for our wine tasting close to 6 p.m. on a Saturday night. There was no time noted on the Groupon or at the bar regarding when the wine tastings began or ended. When we arrived, we showed the Groupon and our tasting began. We started chatting with a lovely couple and were enjoying our time. Shortly thereafter, a hyped up employee named James advised we had to pay for the comedy show or leave. He also told me I had to get off my stool as he needed it for the show. Honestly, I thought he was kidding. I looked around and saw at least 50 open seats and he wanted my stool? With a smile, I told James we were in the middle of a tasting and would gladly give up our stools when we were finished. I also told him we just arrived and needed to sit after a long day of working on my feet. He mocked me and said "like the rest of America?" A new bartender/wine pourer appeared who scolded us for wine tasting at a few minutes past 6 p.m. claiming we "shouldn't even be in the middle of wine tasting because it ended at 6!" I calmly stated we were not told the wine tasting ended at 6 when we arrived. I was feeling abused at this point. Wide eyed James came back to abuse us some more now yelling at us to get up off the stools immediately. He told us we shouldn't even be sitting at a standing only bar. The bar stools were at the bar so why would he say this? Why would he yell at patrons? Why would he seek to intimidate and scare customers? After this aggressive abuse, we decided to leave and asked for our two souvenir glasses which were part of the Groupon offer. We were then told they did not have any glasses to give us, (they were running low) but would offer an IOU. I told them I certainly would not be returning due to the harassment we endured within a half hour of arrival and they told us they were happy to hear we would not return. They showed no remorse, they showed no concern about how we were treated. I wrote to Groupon and requested a refund and advised them of the problems we had with the business. I will never set foot there again and I suggest you never set foot there either....unless of course, you like being treated like garbage.

FAR FAR FAR! anticipate your drive to be at least an hr, if they have traffic it may be even longer! I strongly suggest to pack yourself a picnic because there literally is no restaurants just a snack station by the golf areas, and its pretty much sandwiches and hot dogs! Nothing wine related, to enhanced your wine for all you wino out there! The location of the vineyard is actually an extension to another vineyard from a couple of miles up so don't get confused..go to the Golf Course!! Though the location doesn't give you the beach of Malibu it was very secluded and very serene! The guy wine pourer were a lot more generous with the pour of the wine as opposed to the girl- so go to the guys, they give you more details on where and how they were made and they make it sound so scrumptious!
