I have never played the course, yet I revere it for the several decades it has been recognized the greatest course in the world. It is obvious that some reviewers don't realize that this isn't a club where you simply call the pro shop and book a tee time. Their ire is misplaced and reveals far more about them than it does Pine Valley or its staff and membership.
I was lucky enough to finally see this beautiful course on the final day of the Crump Cup. What's most frustrating is that I live only 4.1 miles away from it. Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to get on but I doubt it. As a Navy Veteran if anyone ever wants to show their appreciation for my service, this would be a dream come true. The layout is spectacular and all I could do was try to envision what club I might choose at any given distance. This place is truly a hidden gem right in my backyard and knowing I'll probably never get the opportunity to play here is gut wrenching. The staff that day and the volunteers couldn't have been any more pleasant. I look forward to seeing it again next year if possible.
Was fortunate to play on a spectacular day to see the course in all its glory. The course is well deserving of all the accolades bestowed by Golf Digest. The clubhouse and locker room are very well preserved and maintained in the traditional northeast US style. The staff was quite attentive and courteous to me as a guest. My caddie was not the salty character that legend had me prepared for. I think this is now my favorite golf experience.
