I loved the location by the water, it's spacious and they have an outdoor shower you can use. There is a wide variety of wild life that my family and I really enjoyed. If I have a complaint it would only be that the hill has a lot of erosion from rain, but I don't think there's much anyone can do about that. Also, on the website it says there is waste disposal but there isn't. Despite that, I loved it here and will be back! The attendant is friendly and answered all of our questions.
Great little outfitter on the Cadron. Good people running a small business. I've used them two times this summer for vehicle shuttles with no problems. Plus the Cadron is hidden gem of Central Arkansas
The road to get down to the campsite is so steep and ragged, you might not make it out. It's kinda terrifying. 4WD strongly recommended! The outhouses are God-awful. I don't think they're maintained at all. They were full of spiderwebs, and you can smell them from the campsites. The outdoor shower and the only working water spigot are away from the campsites, up the death hill. And there is absolutely no where to put trash. No dumpster on site--they want you to take it with you. All of this is really unfortunate, because the location is beautiful! It's very easy to get down to the creek in multiple places. There's shallow spots for wading and deeper spots for swimming. The water is pretty clean. The rapids were perfect for tubing, and there's even a spot with a rope swing (but it seemed a little too shallow there for the swing, so be careful). There's also a pretty cool cave on the other side of the creek, and we saw lots of frogs and turtles and so many different mushrooms. Most of the campsites are spaced out enough that it feels pretty private, and you can see and hear the creek from your tent. Also, we were there in July, and there were almost no mosquitos--the flies were really bad during the day, though. Other than that, we had no problems with wildlife. We had reserved a canoe. When we got there, there were a few cars waiting, not knowing what to do. There aren't any directions in the confirmation email you get. It seems like they pretty much open and close that store whenever they feel like it. Their listed number was going straight to a voicemail message that said their floating season was over for the year. There was a little note on the door of the store that had a different phone number on it. When we called that, a dude came out of the house and said that the water was too shallow to canoe. I understand, that's not their fault, but they should've contacted the people that had paid for it. Like, we were planning on camping, but if I had driven out there just to canoe, I would've been pissed. They DID refund my money three days later after I asked them to the second time. Also, we had reserved the "family site," which advertises camping for twenty people, but you're really only getting one site and a pavilion with a couple picnic tables and no extra amenities. The dude (Jordan) was nice about it when we complained, though, and gave us the neighboring campsite. He also offered to pick up our trash for us and take it to the dump, when we said we had 10 people camping for 3 days with a bunch of kids-- that's a lot of trash to have to cram into a car loaded with your camping equipment. We never saw him again, though. So, idk if the owners were mad about that trash being left. It seems to be a fairly constant problem in all the reviews between the campers and the owners. Lastly, the "ninja warrior Zipline" and "disc golf course" are just the regular stuff you can buy from Walmart and put in your backyard. So, it's something extra to do, but won't keep you occupied long. So overall, the spot just lacks attention to basic health and safety standards. They need to pave the road and provide basic sanitation. The owners seem nice, but they're difficult to get ahold of. If they put a little work into that site, it could be really awesome.
