What people say about (Desoto Country Club golf course)

Edward Verhaeg

I encourage people not to get discouraged about some of these old reviews. I recently joined as a member, and from the beginning of the year, I can tell you up front that the owners and crew have been working very hard to bring this course back to respectability. They have got the greens open, no more temporary greens, and the fairways are filling in. This doesn't happen overnight, but in the last 6 months, I can tell you first hand that it has been improving. Before you throw stones, please come see for yourself, play nine. I personally would love to see and challenge some companies in the area to reach out to these guys and see if they could help out in any way possible (monetary donations, sand, equipment, golf carts, concrete, gravel, wood, furniture) in order to make this a nice destination for golf lovers not only in DeSoto but all of the surrounding counties and communities. This can be a very nice venue for beginners, experienced golfers, and family to come out and enjoy. It will take the help of others, but together we can all have something we can all be very proud of. Come see for yourself. Keep up the good work guys. Two thumbs up! Happy Golfing!

Fore the price of $22.00 for 9 holes with a cart, you can't beat it. The greens are coming back, which is good. The fairways are good. The location for me is nice if I want to get a quick 9 holes in.

Probably one of the worst golfing experiences I’ve ever had. I would recommend any other course in the area over this one. Terrible environment with unprofessional staff. The course itself wasn’t terrible but could use some work. Everything is pretty rundown, the fairways are rocky with patchy grass, sand traps are closed, and had to play on temporary greens for the longest time. The golf carts won’t even strap correctly and your clubs will keep falling out. The main problem though is the management. We were a group of 3, all newer to the game and not the best players. Trying not to hold up other groups, we would let them play through us when they would get behind us. It was a busy day and we were given carts that weren’t fully charged and on the last hole one of them died. Someone from management (not sure if it was a worker or the owner) drove up to us and pretty much ran us out. He said he needed to have a talk with us and said that we were taking too long and “we were over our time limit” and tried blaming us for the golf cart dying. We said we had never heard of a time limit on golf and it was taking us longer because we just let people keep passing us all day (he was one of the people playing that we let play through). He then switched the story to we were hitting too many balls and holding people up. (We were only rehitting balls that would go into the woods off a tee and at this point there was no one else even on the course.) He proceeded to tell us that this course isn’t a place to practice and we needed to go to a driving range. He also said that we needed to look up proper etiquette. (Letting people play through you is proper etiquette) Overall a terrible experience. If you enjoy golf at all, this is not the place to come, (especially when there are many other courses for about the same price that are more well kept and you won’t be treated terribly) and I will not be going back again. Save your money and go anywhere else for a much better experience.
