Cliff's Black Iron and Trading Post

Was a regular at Black Iron 7-10 years ago. This was before new owners/change of hands during COVID times. Went there today (07/05/2025) around 2PM. Around 1/2 of the lanes were down/broken. There was no safety standard. Was repetitively muzzle flashed by other patrons. Witnessed other patrons clear a failure to feed with finger on the trigger pointed directly at the head of their father. No safety was enforced, with a kid (under age 12 or so) was handling a loaded pistol sweeping the entire room. Freaked me out after witnessing these events. Left less than 30 minutes into being there. Told the guy "working" the place. He said sorry that we felt uncomfortable. However, there IS ABSOLUTELY no reason for what I witnessed. I told him a negligent discharge was just waiting to happen. He stated that he was the only one working today so he couldn't help it. I guess Forged in Fire on the TV in the waiting area and paying high insurance premiums is more fun than enforcing a safe environment... DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT SAFETY AND A NICE PLACE TO LEARN... THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY USED TO BE UNDER PREVIOUS OWNERSHIP.

I love going to their range. Me and my father like to go there on Saturday’s to shoot, and everytime I’ve had an incredible experience. The family that owns it are all very kind, and help greatly. Speaking of the range itself, it’s perfectly operational and works great. There is a lot of brass lying around, but it’s a non-issue. Their gun range provides hearing protection and eye protection for you, which is a great plus, and every target in the store is 1 dollar. It really is a great experience, and if you like to shoot go there, the only thing I’d recommend is to bring your own ammo, just because the options they have are a bit limiting.

Finally got a chance to visit on Sunday. The wife and I had a fantastic time. The staff were very friendly. The shop had a good selection of stuff. Prices were awesome. The range was a little warm, but that didn't stop up from throwing a couple hundred rounds down range. Definitely worth going to. I'm glad I was able to catch them open.
