Essex Golf Club (Lakeview)

I want to love this golf course. The layout is great. I wonder what happened here?! I have played the course a few times now. It is short but not easy. It is the first course where I have lost my ball in the fairway. The greens are in such bad shape that they would have to be completely redone. The 8th is so bad and eroded that you can actually see how a green is built up. Again, the layout is great, the staff are decent, but the course is in the worst shape of any I have played in 30+ years of playing golf.

Nice people that work there and run the place. Golf course is in poor shape on most days, decent on its best. Awesome 9 hole layout and with some maintenance and money the place would shine. As it stands you’re better off leaving your putter at home and playing closest to the pin. It’s a great place to learn to play golf though just bring plenty of balls. Water plays a factor on 7 of the 10 holes. They have 2 different par 3s to choose from when you get to hole number 4. From March to September the place tends to be in better shape.

The greens were in horrible shape and the fairways not much better but it is a fun course. It is shorter than average but you hit over water on six or seven holes, including one twice, and most or all greens are elevated, making them hard to reach in regulation.
