Fort Huachuca

Absurd security. Had to give a rentacop at the entrance booth my DL ( he was afraid I might flee), just so I could then leave and go to a security building to get entrance passes. That guy wanted ID and my social security number. I declined to give my SS# so we were turned away. Forced to drive through security line again to leave. I guess I should be pleased we were not detained and questioned. I won’t be back, ever.

The Hatfield St. entrance Sergeant was courteous and helpful answering questions. Easy breezy in and out security clearance process with a picture ID and your unique Barcode.

Lots of history. Really nice clean base. Lots of places to explore. Their are a lot of wild animals that are really cool too. Deer, turkeys, javelina, you can almost count of seeing something at least once a week. The views are beautiful and just taking a drive through is an experience. I recommend reading about the base before going so you know what you're looking at and the history of the buildings. It's really pretty cool.
