What people say about (Laughlin Ranch Golf Club)

Ralph Brown

While visiting the casinos in Laughlin I thought I would try to get in a round of golf. I was pleasantly surprised to find LR. Well kept track with plenty of elevation changes to make it challenging. Most of the tee boxes were in good shape as were most of the bunkers. A few outhouses are available for use. Due to the lack of rain, the fairways could use a little water. Overall I had a great experience. I did enjoy a few pints of Guinness after my round in the dining hall. I look forward to my next round at LR.

Chasing Daylight Podcast

We’ve wanted to get down to Bullhead City and play Laughlin Ranch for several years. The locals we know who have played the course have always had nothing but good things to say about the course. We finally found a time to make it happen last week, and wow, it did. It didn't disappoint us at all. Laughlin Ranch is an hour and a half south of Las Vegas. The drive is boring and uneventful, with the trip's highlight being the 35mph speed zone through Searchlight. Once you turn off the main road and head into the hills before you descend to Laughlin, the scenery gets a big lift with dramatic landscape views. Other than that, take a nap if you’re a passenger. Once we arrived at the golf course, we were all impressed with what we saw. The clubhouse is a beautiful ranch-style building that reminds us of a Montana Ranch from the Yellowstone TV Series. The ambiance of the facilities is impressive. You’re immersed into a time warp of a time long ago with beautiful architecture and features that make you feel like you’re in a special place. The copper-hammered sinks in the locker rooms were a stunning element. The practice range is massive, and the grass is nice. They include range balls in the green fees and they’re piled up at each hitting station. They could use an update, but they’re in decent shape overall. There is an excellent chipping area where you can hit off a fairway lie, some THICK rough, and a green side bunker. Next to the chipping area is a huge putting green with plenty of uphill, downhill, left-to-right, right to left putts to prepare you for the round. What impressed us was the amount of tee boxes. It made us all say that if this was our home course, we could play different boxes almost every day and experience a new course. There are at least six boxes on every hole. It was cool to see. Much like the clubhouse, the course had its own elements that took you back in time. Wooden bridges that you cross over and under in certain areas, an abandoned mine, some outstanding views of the river, and the city below. It made it very entertaining as we made our way around the course. The course conditions are what impressed us the most. The greens were fantastic. They’re very receptive and rolled true! The tee boxes were well-manicured, and the green side bunkers were excellent. The fairway bunkers need some attention, but it didn’t make us dislike what they’ve done. They have the newer style Yamaha golf carts, which are nice. They’re quick, but the brakes are a little soft. You can pair your phone to listen to music through the cart speakers, but we did not like the GPS in the carts. The distances were off all day, so verify your distance before trusting the GPS. Five stars was an easy rating for us. The rate can seem a little high considering your way south of Vegas, which is rather rural, but the price is worth the experience. We’ll be back for sure, and we’ll be bringing more people with us next time. Laughlin Ranch is a gem, and you need to check it out!
